Here is an small introductory article on which is the right webhosting for a blogger, whether he should go with shared hosting? Benefits of using VPS server hosting..
Share hosting – Here, the webhosting company has an server that is used for hosting your website. In simple words, you will be given a part of the server to utilize. Of course, there are limitations with shared hosting, but then again, it’s much cheaper compared to VPS server.
You can get a shared hosting account in 2$ and this can go up to 10$ depending on bandwidth, reliability and support of the webhosting company.

If your website has heavy traffic then it is not recommended to make use of shared hosting because the whole server might crash and the webhosting company temporarily or even permanently bans your website causing you to transfer your whole website to another host.
VPS Hosting – Here, the webhosting company will split the server and you will be given the part of the private server that is all yours. You have control over the server and host lots of websites, reboot the operating system. In short, this is better than shared hosting..
VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting is costlier.. this depends on the RAM and the hosting providers. Usually an basic VPS plan can be acquired with 20$ - 30$ that has a RAM of 256 to 384mb..
When to Change from Shared Server to VPS hosting?
Incase you have a shared hosting account at bluehost, hostgator, dreamhost, lunarpages or godaddy initially then it’s a good choice, although you can find tons of webhosting Indian companies as well.. (Check how I got swindled by webhosting company in Bangalore)
When your blog receives around 3000 visitors per day then it’s time to shift and transfer all your website files to VPS server quickly, that’s my observation! But some of the hosts like Hostgator are shared server but supports more than 3000 because of the quality of servers!
If you are smart and treat blogging as a business then it’s time to choose the right server at the right time. Although going with Shared server saves couple of bucks, in the long run when traffic goes beyond certain level it’s better to move on with best of the best hosting companies!

Good insight on vps. I dont feel that my blog is ready yet but vps is always preferred first.
Indeed you settled with the right choice but I had couple of sites and therefore I moved on with VPS hosting..
If you have then it’s better to invest 10-20 extra dollars..
thanks for the great tip. It is always good to have VPS
I am on VPS from 2008
I am having my personal blog on WP….I just shift from Blogger to WP as blogger blogs can’t be W3C validated.
Thanks
TC
It is always to good to have VPS.. but blog not ready for that .. 3000 uniques per day is something huge for my blog to reach now.. But hope that happens very soon..
currently i am in free host, i am thinking to for paid hosting as early as possible, thanks for sharing its very useful for me.
Nice tip…
If I achieve all my goals..then i will have to shift to VPS soon…Hope that day comes as early as possible
Hello, i want to tranfer to vps but how……? please tell
Ask the host if this is your first time.. they will help you out. All you need to do is, change your nameservers to the custom vps nameserver and transfer all your files from shared hosting to vps hosting
I’ve been on blogetery earlier and have just recently moved to shared hosting. Some day if the traffic warrants it I would move to VPS. Thanks for setting the target though.
Haven’t heard of blogetery but definitely when you are starting out the best hosting is shared hosting
Good to know you took the right step!
Good luck..
